Massage Therapy for Maternal & Women’s Health

Bodywork that nurtures you through every stage of motherhood.

Supporting your body across fertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and the transitions into peri/menopause

The old adage “It takes a village to raise a child” has been sustained because it is true. In our modern society many women are without a strong community and familial support available, and may feel isolated and alone. Rachael at Maternal Mindfulness feels very passionately about supporting and educating her clients, providing resources to help build their community, and being apart of the “village” all mothers need.

Here is a few of the offerings I provide as a prenatal massage therapist and yoga teacher, but my mission is to help bridge the gap of prenatal care in the Boston area. Please visit the list of providers located below to add to your resource list! If you are not finding the services you are looking for please do not hesitate to reach out for more personalized recommendations!

“It Takes a Village”

Our massage services are designed to support you at any stage of life…

  • Fertility Massage is a specialized therapeutic approach that integrates abdominal massage with restorative modalities to help reduce scar tissue, alleviate inflammation, and release muscular and fascial tension. This treatment also supports healthy digestion, circulation, and lymphatic flow.

A key component of this therapy is Shiatsu Massage, a modality rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine principles similar to acupuncture. Shiatsu techniques are seamlessly incorporated to address internal imbalances, promote systemic wellness, and support the management of specific reproductive and digestive conditions.

At the beginning of each session, an initial abdominal evaluation is performed to assess the condition of the hara (the body's energetic center) and identify which meridians, organs, and acupressure points require focused attention. This assessment guides the treatment process, facilitating the clearing of stagnant or restricted energy, restoring balance within the body, and optimizing physiological efficiency—ultimately supporting the body’s natural prioritization of conception.

Additional techniques may include Craniosacral Therapy, Myofascial Release, Lymphatic Drainage, Acupressure, Reflexology, and targeted abdominal massage. Castor oil & Herbal Poultice is often incorporated to gently support uterine and ovarian health. ***more information on castor oil and poultice found here***

This calm, nurturing session is designed to activate the parasympathetic nervous system, fostering deep relaxation, hormonal harmony, and a sense of overall well-being.

Clients also receive instruction in a brief 10–15 minute self-massage routine for at-home practice, with ongoing check-ins available for continued guidance and support.

Questions & Answers

  • It is safe to receive a massage in any trimester from a trained and certified prenatal massage therapist, such as Rachael!

  • Every body and every pregnancy is different, but Rachael recommends coming in about once a month throughout your pregnancy. You may decide to come more frequently during the 3rd trimester to prepare your body and mind for birth.

  • You are welcome immediately after! I highly recommend speaking with your medical provider about your specific health conditions to ensure you are able to get the most out of your massage experience.

  • Please contact me directly with any concerns you may have.

Please note that even if you have contraindications and can not receive the “traditional” pregnancy massage, you may still benefit from gentle relaxation techniques! (breathing techniques, scalp massage, energy work just to name a few!) I am specially trained to help support everyone!

  • Not with me! Laying on your side is the safest and most comfortable way to receive massage therapy during pregnancy. It also helps to take some of the strain off uterine ligaments which can often cause discomfort.

Prefer not to lay on your side? We can set you up in a reclined position which is just as safe, and gives you a chance to relax on your back again!
