What to expect:

I use gentle massage techniques combined with mindful movement practices to help my clients experience a more comfortable and confident birth, as well as to support their healing and recovery in the postpartum period. By relaxing the body, this approach reduces fear and stress related to labor, enabling the body to manage contractions more effectively. Additionally, this nurturing care stimulates the release of natural hormones such as oxytocin, which plays a crucial role in progressing pregnancy smoothly, enhancing mood, and preventing inflammation or detoxification problems. This comprehensive, whole-body method fosters a stronger connection between mind, body, and baby, ensuring a positive, supported, and empowering journey throughout pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

  • Massage therapy supports the changing body during pregnancy and aids recovery in the postpartum period. At Maternal Mindfulness we use specific modalities chosen to promote safety, comfort, and healing:

    • Prenatal massage: Modified Swedish techniques with gentle effleurage and petrissage to reduce muscle tension, improve circulation, and ease common pregnancy discomforts such as low‑back pain and sciatica. Positioning is adapted (side‑lying or semi‑reclined) for maternal safety and comfort.

    • Postpartum healing massage: Focused on releasing neck, shoulder, and back tension from breastfeeding and infant care, using gentle myofascial release, trigger‑point work, and lymphatic drainage to reduce swelling and encourage tissue healing.

    • Myofascial release: Slow, sustained pressure to release connective tissue restrictions that develop during pregnancy and after delivery, improving mobility and reducing pain around the pelvis, ribcage, and lower back.

    • Lymphatic drainage: Light, rhythmic techniques to support fluid movement, decrease postpartum swelling, and promote detoxification and recovery.

    • Therapeutic Deep tissue: Targeted, slower strokes and focused pressure applied safely where appropriate to address chronic muscle tightness, always adjusted for postpartum sensitivity and any contraindications.

    • Craniosacral therapy: Gentle cranial and sacral techniques to support nervous system regulation, reduce headaches, and enhance overall relaxation and the mind/body/baby connection.

    • Myofascial pelvic release: Specialized work to address pelvic girdle pain, diastasis recti-related tension, and postpartum pelvic floor balancing in coordination with medical or pelvic‑health providers.

    Each session is individualized: modalities are selected and adapted based on gestational stage, postpartum timeline, medical history, and client comfort. Safety, communication, and collaboration with other care providers guide modality choices.

  • Expect an extensive intake conversation! But don’t worry, we start every intake process as a conversation- no hand cramps from too much paperwork here!

  • Safe, gentle and non-invasive massage and bodywork for all trimesters. High risk pregnancies are more than welcome, we will adjust all sessions to your specific health needs.

  • Clients may also receive stretches, positional releases, tips for more restful sleep, or self massage routines for continued at-home self care, with ongoing check-ins available for continued guidance and support.

  • Castor Oil & Herbal Poultice offered to non-breastfeeding postpartum clients only

    Currently, the benefits of castor oil are supported mainly by personal and traditional evidence rather than extensive clinical research. Nevertheless, many individuals attest to its effectiveness in alleviating abdominal congestion, repairing tissues while boosting circulation and blood flow, supporting ovarian and uterine health, promoting fallopian tube function, encouraging healthy endometrial growth, easing PMS symptoms, improving lymphatic circulation, detoxifying the liver, and reducing inflammation.

    Herbal Poultices are soft muslin fabric, filled with traditional Thai herbs and spices including lemongrass, turmeric, parai, kaffier lime, camphor and tamarind. They have effects that can benefit reproduction, like increasing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries, and regulating hormone levels. Although used for thousands of years for their supposed fertility-boosting qualities, but there is no conclusive research that supports the benefits.
